Online store promises revolution for men’s fashion

A NEW website for men’s clothing which uses ‘body map’ technology to help its customers decide what clothes to wear is promising a revolution in online retail.

Described by its founders as “intelligent shopping for men”, StyleGun launched this month offering a faster and more convenient service to increasingly fashion-focused males.

The company is talking of nothing short of a “revolution” for men’s shopping and has brought in the stylist David Lamb, who has worked film stars such as Daniel Craig and Clive Owen and musicians such as Mark Ronson and Justin Timberlake to bolster its team.

Users fill out simple six-step multiple choice questionnaires where they describe their body shape, eye and hair colour, skin colour and face shape.

The company’s BodyMap technology then uses this data and, combined with its own algorithms, it determines what clothes are most likely to suit the user.

StyleGun highlights these clothes as a ‘BodyMap Match’, however the store also has other online tools, such as 3D dressing room displays, to help men make their decisions.

So far, several leading men’s designer clothing brands, such as John Smedley, Farhi, Aquascutum, Wrangler, Dockers, J Brand, Scotch & Soda, Wolsey and Oliver Sweeney, have been added to the StyleGun wardrobe.

“We’re really excited about the launch of StyleGun,” said Rachel Butterworth, creative director and founder of StyleGun.

“This new technology will allow men to shop online for an outfit that suits them, without the hassle of fitting rooms and queues.

“We’re eager to share our brand new, groundbreaking BodyMap technology with the world.

“It will well and truly change the way in which men perceive online shopping,” she said.
