THE FASTEST growing eCommerce companies in the UK are mostly in the South East and top of the list is a winter sports brand, a new survey suggests.
Data, collected by Experian and compiled by the law firm Berg, shows Specialist Limited, the company behind the Yaktrax brand, is the UK’s fastest growing e-commerce business.
The Carshalton-based company has an average growth rate of 313% and recorded a turnover of £466,000 in 2011, the report found.
The 2012 Berg E-commerce Power 20 is dominated with companies in the South East.
Second place went to the London-based emergency kit retailer Evaq8, which has an average growth rate of 105% and revenues of £300,000.
Third and fourth were toy retailer Firestar Toys and clothing supplier Rosemile, also form the South East.
Midlands-based Model Hobbies clocked up eighth-place and Kitbag, from the North West made ninth.
The survey’s authors say the study shows that eCommerce is performing strongly in the UK and is spread across a wide range of sectors.
“The Berg E-commerce Power 20 demonstrates the growing maturity of online shopping as businesses from a vast range of sectors, from health foods to toys, take advantage of the e-commerce boom,” said Stephen Foster, corporate and commercial partner at Berg.
“It is no secret that the retail sector is making the evolutionary transition from ‘bricks to clicks’,” he added.
“The internet has sparked a dramatic shift in consumer behaviour, changing the way that we buy products and services.”
