Google expected to launch new business service

RUMOURS from insiders and numerous news sites suggest Google is to launch a new business-focused service this week.

Google Cloud is set to be launched in full this week at the company’s developer conference on Wednesday and could offer eCommerce businesses a whole new set of choices for running their sites.

The exact details of the launch are not known, however it is widely expected that the service will be an expansion of Google’s App Engine.

Currently, businesses can host websites from Google’s servers and access a limited suite of services, these could be expanded significantly as the search giant vies to beat its two main competitors in the arena.

Google Cloud will be a direct challenge Amazon’s successful Elastic Compute service as well as Microsoft’s Azure, which is also expected to be upgraded soon.

Ecommerce companies are able to gain store, host and serve applications from all three of the above competing systems.

The Google I/O conference, where the launch is expected to be made, is being held at San Francisco’s Moscone Center from June 27 – 29, however UK businesses and individuals can watch it online for free.
