Women seek ‘bargains’ when buying for men

Women looking for bargainsWomen who shop online for men often buy them “bargains” or “cast offs” rather than the latest trends, a recent survey suggests.

A survey from online clothing store StyleGun.com, looked into the habits of 125 online shoppers and found big differences in attitudes between the sexes.

Half of the female respondents said they were most likely to shop for the men in their lives during the sales, while 41% were usually went online when ‘he needs something for work’.

Men on the other hand, are much more likely to want to buy the latest styles and are often happy to spend more than £100 on clothes.

Therefore it is unlikely men will be happy with their wives, mothers or daughters doing their shopping, as 64% of women will only shop for them a couple of times per year and 45% spend less than £100.

Rachel Butterworth, creative director of StyleGun.com, said it was clear that men are better off doing their own shopping online.

“The results of the research reveal an interesting gulf in attitudes between the sexes,” she said.

“It may be a kindly gesture, but these ladies are dressing their men in last season’s cast offs.

“So perhaps the men who are leaving this task to the women in their lives should up their game.

“I would advise men who care about their look to pip their partners to the post, shopping for what they need, sooner, rather than settling for the remnants of the high street’s latest spring clean.”
