We speak to Andy Atalla, founder of atom42, on how his online marketing company helps its clients to increase their sales.

Please tell me about your business

atom42 is an online marketing agency based in London. The letters in our name stand for ‘acquisition through online marketing’, because everything we do is focused towards the end goal of driving acquisitions for our clients.

We work to ensure our clients reach as many relevant people as possible, and that they’re able to engage and convert as many of their target market as possible. We do this through search engine optimisation (SEO), pay per click advertising (PPC), customer relationship management (CRM), social media management and usability testing, with an emphasis on tracking and analysing everything we do. Our clients include National Accident Helpline, Match.com and Drinkaware.

How much does it cost?

The cost to clients depends on a number of factors – including the number of hours we think they need on their business, but also the amount of search volume in the market. If they want to reach a high share of the searches in a large market, then this could cost a significant amount in the paid search space, especially if the competition means cost-per-clicks are high. However, we work to ensure our clients’ money is wisely spent, and that they’re getting a positive return on any media activity they invest in.

How does it work?

Whilst we offer our clients one thing – “acquisition” – this ends up being quite unique, depending on the clients objectives and the sector they operate in. Taking a step back, however, we spend time understanding their consumer and how they behave online, and develop strategies to make sure we’re reaching the right people with the most helpful information we can.

The truth is – the results we deliver are always better the closer we’re able to integrate with our client’s business. We’re not able to run off and work magic without developing a close partnership with you – so it’s an ongoing partnership which is required to deliver the best results.

Is there anything else I should know?

We don’t like jargon. We will tell you how it is – and not hide behind industry terminology to try and distract you from what your business is trying to achieve. We understand our success is directly correlated to our clients’ success, so we will really push you to do what’s needed to achieve the improvements.

That does mean that we often need you to contribute – so you should be prepared to engage fully with the process. If that’s not going to happen, then it will ultimately be a frustrating and unfulfilling journey which both parties would be better off avoiding.
